Charming Ljubljana and Bled - Slovenia
A small but charming and endearing town like Ljubljana will do nothing else but take you into its romantic arms and guide you through its lovely air filled with love and romance. Never will you wish to escape from its embrace till you absorb all the serenity it offers.
Explore the picturesque town and let your eyes be transfixed by the alluring nuances which will paint your soul with joyful colours.
Ljubljana is perfect to visit in June as ideal climate will welcome you, the Sun will shine brightly throughout the day but will definitely not stop you from passionately exploring its alleys. The nights are pleasant with gentle breeze caressing your faces. That being the case, you can take various clothes, from light coats to summer dresses for the climate does not go to extremes.
When the time for accommodation comes, you can with no doubt book at Hotel Meksiko as your stay will be more than enjoyable. Everything is in top form, modern, and perfectly clean.
Walking beside the river Ljubljanica you will come to one of the main squares in Ljubljana, the Prešeren Square. It leads towards the Triple Bridge (Tromostovje) which is the most famous bridge and landmark in Ljubljana. It consists of there bridges merged into one which makes it absolutely extraordinary. It has been built by Italian and Slovenian architects. The bridge and the square are teeming with people and nearby there are a myriad of elegant restaurants where you can try various dishes.
Speaking of food, the restaurant that we liked the most is named Fany & Mary. Located beside the river bank, this restaurant abounds with a lovely atmosphere as you will see boats floating in the river, fresh air, and lovely food.
If you want to taste fancy sweet mild dishes, Wonderland Ljubljana is the perfect place for such mood. The restaurant is more than fancy, decorated with extraordinary materials and colours that make you feel like you are in a beautiful sweet land.
Another charming square is Mestni square which is no less amazing. Dressed in Baroque style and located in the old town, this place is perfect for perceiving the artistic buildings while tasting Ljubljana coffee.
From there you can continue to the Old square (Stari trg), the Upper square (Gornji trg), Congress square (Kongresni trg) and the Republic square (Trg republike).
All of the squares maintained their historical art with Renaissance and Baroque buildings.
What is interesting about Ljubljana is that you can explore everything on foot, you do not need a car since Ljubljana is a a small city that makes everything easily accessible.
Nearby you can visit all the cultural buildings such as the University, the Philharmonic building, the Parliament, various galleries and so on.
If you want to see Ljubljana from above, go to Ljubljana Castle. The castle is built back in the 11th century, it's been reconstructed throughout the years and now is a mix of Renaissance, Baroque and Gothic styles. The castle was built to protect from the Ottomans and is now a popular tourist attraction. It hosts various cultural events, there are different exhibitions and it includes the Museum of Slovenian History as well.
Another breathtaking view of the beautiful green Ljubljana you can enjoy from the Neboticnik Skyscraper. Head to the rooftop, order vanilla coffee and perceive the stunning view.
More greenery to be seen is when you go to Park Tivoli. What is interesting about Ljubljana is that in the centre there are no cars, no noise and even if there are cars, they are mostly electric. So, Park Tivoli is indeed a very quiet place but similar is the Ljubljana centre as well. It is nothing like the big metropolitan cities with noise and crowds.
Another picturesque part of Slovenia is the town Bled with the Bled lake. Located in the Julian Alps, this place offers an idyllic view that your eyes will perceive with enjoyment. There is the Bled Lake with small island in the middle.
For a panoramic view of the lake, head to the Bled castle and soak up the blueness of the entire lake.
Bled castle is one of the oldest castles in Slovenia which is located on a cliff.
The thing that you should know is that it is not easy to arrive to Bled especially if it is the weekend. For you not to struggle with the public transportation like we did, I recommend you rent a car. Doing so, you will be there in about less than an hour and also you can visit the nearby attractions like Vintgar George.
When in Bled, you can try Cream cake, the most famous Bled cake.
Slovenia is beautiful, green and perfectly clean. If you yearn peaceful vacation without noise and crowds, perfect climate, safe place, amazing nature, then... your choice cannot be better!
